CYPRUS: TOMBS OF THE KINGS

Just a few kilometers west of Paphos lies another exceptional archaeological site: the Tombs of the Kings!

The Egyptians of the Ptolemaic Empire, who settled in Cyprus between 300 and 58 BC, built these luxurious tombs.

But in 58 BC, the Romans invaded Cyprus, and 'Ptolemy of Cyprus,' the reigning king at the time, unable to resist the invasion, committed suicide.

During the Roman occupation, throughout the first three centuries of our era, these tombs mainly served as hideouts for young Christians with long hair!

Today, in these catacombs, there is still a palpable mystical atmosphere.
