CYPRUS: TOMBS OF THE KINGS
Still in Paphos, on the edge of "Venus Beach," lies another exceptional archaeological site: the Tombs of the Kings!
The Egyptians of the Ptolemaic Empire, who settled in Cyprus between 300 and 58 BC, built these luxurious tombs.

But in 58 BC, the Romans invaded Cyprus, and 'Ptolemy of Cyprus,' the reigning king at the time, unable to resist the invasion, committed suicide.
During the Roman occupation, in the first three centuries AD, these tombs primarily served as hiding places for young Christians with long hair!
Today, in these catacombs, a mystical atmosphere is still palpable.
Claustrophobes... beware!
