Here was born, in 1763, "Marie-Josèphe Rose Tascher de la Pagerie" (just that!).

This daughter of a white livestock breeder was later better known as Joséphine de Beauharnais...
...before becoming Empress Joséphine, wife of Napoleon 1st!

Not much remains of her birthplace; only a low wall, here in the foreground, marks its contours...
However, the old kitchens, here in the background, are intact and house a museum.
