In the absence of "brick-and-mortar" shops in the area, all these items come to you in the bags of wandering vendors!

During each tourist season, from January to May, about thirty vendors, most of them from mainland France, roam Anse des Salines.

They are often seasonal workers recruited by clothing stores in southern Martinique.

Others, like this couple, are independent and manage their own business.

It's worth noting that this couple, Christian and Lydie, are "regulars": I had already met them, right here, in January 1993!
